I'm thinking of buying an alt to hack on but I don't want my main getting banned because its EOD. If its only IP bans I can get around that super easily but I don't want to **** with HWID bans.

They do issue HWID bans eventually and some times on the first bans. They track and ban actively on both HWID and IP.

Is that done manually or by an anti cheat? I don't plan on being obvious and I don't mind taking a death to avoid being banned so I should be able to avoid manual bans. What are the chances I get HWID banned on the first ban?

Bypassing HWID bans isn't something we actively help with, but an IP ban, you should change your IP and do a fresh install of the game. You can also change the name of your PC too for further protection.
