How do VAC Bans work these days ?

Hello everyone!
Like the title says how do VAC bans work these days ?
I want to hack on a CS GO smurf account but i CAN NOT have a VAC ban on my main account! (This has its reasons)
So say i make a new Steam account with a new Email and Pass ETC, and i start hacking on that, IF i do get banned will my main have a VAC too ?
If anyone can clear this up for me that would be awesome!~

Hello sir,

As long as you do not use the SAME telephone number on your CSGO Smurf account, your main account will not be affected You can hack as however you like.

I am 100% sure about this. You can also google. Oh and I have many steam accounts with CSGO accounts, many of them are VAC banned, many are not
